Artists Pool
Artists Pool is nestled beneath the cliffs of Cradle Mt, its shores lined with ancient King Billy pines. Having walked every track around Cradle Mt, in the Cradle Mt Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania and been inspired by the truly breath-taking scenery, this little jewel of a tarn, that barely rates a mention on a map, found a place in my heart. The dark, tannin stained waters, the ancient pines and the mist drifting over the cliffs in ragged veils, speak of antiquity. The eucalypts have lost their battle with the elements, while the King Billy pines stand steadfast to face another millennium in this glacial carved landscape.
